Silverlight Analytics Controls - Box and Whisker

The Box and Whisker plot is designed to show the variation in groups. The variation it focuses on is the interquartile range. The Box and Whisker control contains the same statistics as the time series charts (Individuals, Moving Range, Xbar, Range, Standard Deviation...) as it may be used in conjunction with, or in place of, the Xbar chart. Two of the features of the Box and Whisker control are discussed below. Other features are listed in the documentation and API:

Displaying Variation

The control allows for USL and LSL limits to be set for a series. These limits are used when calculating certain statistics. In the example below, the Xbar control and Box and Whisker control are both given the same data to plot. You can show the individuals of the Xbar control to see similarities between the two.

Statistics

The Box and Whisker control supports a number of statistics. These can be retrieved at any point programmatically, or they can be shown in the statistics box. If you require a statistic that is not in the control, you may contact our Support department, and we can work with you in adding the statistic. An example of a control with the statistics box is shown below (click on Series 1 to show the statistics):
